Outreach

Through a network of partnerships, OHSU is enhancing community-based care, serving Oregon’s most vulnerable citizens, increasing access to healthcare education, and bringing groundbreaking health research to rural communities. With more than 200 community service programs already in place, OHSU is improving the well-being of people across Oregon and throughout the region.

Dangerous Decibels comes to Saturday Academy

John Brigande, OHSU professor in Otolaryngology and in Cell and Developmental Biology, will be bringing the Dangerous Decibels program to Saturday Academy this summer. Brigande will present Dangerous Decibels to two groups of 30 students in Saturday Academy's Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering Mid-Summer Conference being held at Oregon State University on July 9.

This year's Annual Oregon Rural Health Conference will be held September 23-25, 2010 at the Salem Conference Center in Salem, Oregon.

Featured topics include health policy at the state and national levels, health care reform, national and state healthcare policy updates, and physician economic contributions to the community.

Online offerings from OHSU Office of Rural Health

OHSU's Office of Rural Health offers several series of online learning sessions available to health care providers in rural Oregon. 

Flex Webinar Learning Series, for Critical Access Hospitals

One hour training sessions at 12 PM (Pacific) on the first and third Tuesday of every month via the Internet.  The sessions will discuss a different issue for Critical Access Hospitals and other rural providers each month ranging from quality initiatives, cost reports, capital finance, patient safety, balanced scorecard and other interesting topics.

Rural Health Clinics Webinar series
One hour training sessions via the Internet that discuss a different issue for Rural Health Clinics and other rural providers ranging from cost reports, billing issues, and other interesting topics.

Oregon EMS/Trauma Webinar Learning Series

The Oregon Office of Rural Health and the State EMS and Trauma Systems Office have partnered to bring web-based education to EMTs and emergency providers throughout Oregon.This series offers CE credit for the rural EMTs.
